Message on Our First Anniversary
Today, Atago Property Co., Ltd. marks its first anniversary. We extend our sincere gratitude to our business partners, financial institutions, and all others who have supported us.
On this milestone, I would like to share what we aim to achieve and the principles that guide us.
Real estate and entropy
There is a term called “entropy.” In physics, it refers broadly to the degree of disorder. In nature, left unchecked, entropy increases—things tend toward disorder.
The same phenomenon is occurring in the world of real estate.
Ownership shares become fragmented through successive inheritances. Leasehold rights and the underlying land pass to different people. As the number of stakeholders grows, contact becomes difficult and consensus-building becomes ever harder. This is precisely the increase of entropy within real estate.
What follows is vacant houses, decay, and a loss of urban vitality.
Our work is to resist that trend. We disentangle convoluted ownership structures, reconcile conflicting interests, and regenerate properties into places “where someone can live with peace of mind.” In other words, we believe the essence of Atago Property’s business is to restore order against rising entropy.
Housing—the “home” in the essentials of life. Delivering places where people can sleep safely is our mission. We view this not merely as property transactions, but as the reconstruction of social order.
Co-creation with artificial intelligence
In our first year we reached a conviction: AI is not just a convenient tool for improving efficiency. It is a partner that expands our capacity to think.
Real estate transactions—especially those with complex rights structures—involve law, tax, construction, finance, and even the psychology of stakeholders. One person has limits in grasping all factors and making the optimal decision. AI can extend those limits.
That said, we do not consider AI omnipotent. Judgment honed in the field, human nuances that cannot be quantified, the rhythm of negotiation, the intuition about risk—these are not easily replaced.
That is why we believe in combining human on-the-ground sensibility with AI’s intellectual processing capabilities.
Toward the age of agents
In 2026, AI has reached a major turning point. The chat-based model that answers questions is shifting to agent-based systems that think, decide, and act on their own. AI no longer simply waits for instructions; it finds problems and takes initiative. That era has already begun.
Atago Property will not sit on the sidelines.
We will welcome AI agents as part of our team—“AI staff”—and build an organization where humans and AI work together. Research, analysis, document preparation, market monitoring: tasks that once required multiple people will be handled by AI agents, while humans focus on creative judgment and direct customer interaction—areas where AI still finds difficulty.
With a small team, we aim to achieve intellectual productivity that rivals larger organizations. That is the future we envision.
Beyond the label of “real estate”
Finally, let me leave one question.
Is Atago Property simply a “real estate company”? Naturally, we hold a real estate brokerage license and conduct property sales, brokerage, and management. But what we truly aim to do is restore order, extend intelligence, and create places where people can live with peace of mind.
New technologies like AI and blockchain are blurring industry boundaries. We do not fear this change; we welcome it.
While protecting real estate’s essential value—the ability for people to live safely—we will continually update how that value is realized. By combining time-honored wisdom with cutting-edge technology, we will create value that transcends industry boundaries.
One year since our founding. Our journey has only just begun.
